In December 1992, a meeting was held on the first Sunday of the month, attended by 13–14 people. On the second Sunday, around 30–35 people were present. During these meetings, discussions were held regarding the name of the organization.

On 26 January 1993, a larger meeting was organized with 50–60 attendees. In this meeting, Dr. Dinesh Kamble proposed the name “Bahujan Samata Prabodhini.” The proposal was supported by Late Pandurang Ingle (Former Chairman, Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation), Late Omprakash Kalamkar, Mr. Ramesh Nirbhavne, and Mr. Prabhakar Igale. The name “Bahujan Samata Prabodhini” was unanimously approved. In the same meeting, the founding executive committee was formed, and the organization officially began its work. During this period, former Doordarshan Director General R. S. Savdekar strongly supported the organization as its President and Guide. The organization was officially registered with the Charity Commissioner in 1997.

In the first two years, the organization conducted programs such as Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, birth anniversaries of other great leaders, Mahaparinirvan Day, anti-superstition campaigns, and social awareness street plays. Later, branches were established at Ambedkarnagar, Ranale Talav, and Tarwadi to provide educational guidance to students in those areas.

In 1996, under the leadership of Mr. Narsingh Danani and his team from Ambedkarnagar (Anna Pada), and with the support of local Ambedkarite followers, Bahujan Samata Prabodhini installed the first statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in Virar. This was made possible with the support of the then Municipal President Late Adv. C. P. Solanki and other dignitaries.

In 2004, the organization purchased the house of Mr. B. B. Gamre at Ranale Talav and started the Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule Study Center and Library. The construction of this center was supported not only by members but also by daily wage workers who contributed part of their income. Several organizations including Reman Charitable Trust & R.S.C. Foundation, Rotary Club, Virar Municipal Council, Shipping Corporation of India, ONGC, and Viva Charitable Trust provided valuable support.

The center was inaugurated by the then Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mumbai, Dr. Bhalchandra Mungekar, and MLA Hitendra Thakur. The study center was equipped with 12 computers, books on various subjects, and proper seating arrangements. Expert teachers provide guidance to students every Saturday and Sunday. The center is managed by Prof. Bhimrao Petkar and Prof. Gautam Maske.

The organization also conducts art and sports competitions to encourage students’ talents and honors them with certificates and awards. With the support of Mr. Darpan Thakur, the Yashwant Study Center was started on Manvel Pada Road, offering modern computer education and study facilities.

Since 1993, Bahujan Samata Prabodhini has been actively working in social, educational, and cultural fields. Over the past 33 years, the organization has helped many underprivileged students enter the mainstream of education through study centers and computer training. Many students supported by the organization have achieved success in jobs, arts, sports, and other fields.

Due to the increasing number of students, the existing spaces became insufficient. Therefore, the organization decided to construct an independent multi-purpose building. Efforts were made to obtain government land by approaching the Tehsildar and District Collector, but due to administrative challenges and lack of proper response, the members decided to purchase land through public contributions (donations).
