Dr. Dinesh Kamble
President: Bahujan Samata Prabodhini Sanstha

Bahujan Samata Prabodhini is a social organization working in the fields of education, social development, arts, and sports in the Virar region. On 26 January 2026, the organization proudly celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day.

Looking back at its journey, the organization was formed with the vision of doing meaningful work for the Bahujan community. In December 1992, a small group of like-minded friends held their first meeting, attended by 13–14 people. The following Sunday, attendance increased to 30–35 people, and discussions began about forming an organization.

On 26 January 1993, around 50–60 people gathered for a meeting where Dr. Dinesh Kamble proposed the name “Bahujan Samata Prabodhini.” The proposal was supported by Late Pandurang Ingle (Former Chairman, Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation), Late Omprakash Kalamkar, Mr. Ramesh Nirbhavne, and Mr. Prabhakar Igale. The name was unanimously approved, and the founding executive committee was formed. Former Doordarshan Director General R. S. Savdekar played a strong role as President and Guide during the early years. The organization was officially registered with the Charity Commissioner in 1997.

In its initial years, the organization conducted programs such as Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, anniversaries of great leaders, Mahaparinirvan Day, anti-superstition campaigns, and social awareness street plays. Branches were later established in Ambedkarnagar, Ranale Talav, and Tarwadi to provide educational guidance to students.

In 1996, under the leadership of Mr. Narsingh Danani and his team, and with support from local Ambedkarite followers, the organization installed the first statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in Virar at Ambedkarnagar. This initiative received support from the then Municipal President Late Adv. C. P. Solanki and other dignitaries.

In 2004, the organization purchased a property at Ranale Talav and started the Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule Study Center and Library. The construction was supported not only by members but also by daily wage workers who contributed part of their earnings. Support was also received from several trusts, government bodies, and organizations. The center was inaugurated by Dr. Bhalchandra Mungekar, then Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mumbai, and MLA Hitendra Thakur.

The study center is equipped with 12 computers, books on various subjects, and seating arrangements. Expert teachers guide students every Saturday and Sunday. The center is managed by Prof. Bhimrao Petkar and Prof. Gautam Maske. Art and sports competitions are regularly organized to encourage students’ hidden talents. With the support of Mr. Darpan Thakur, the Yashwant Study Center was also established, offering modern computer education and study facilities.

Over the past 30+ years, the organization has helped underprivileged students access education through study rooms and computer training centers. Many former students are now successful in jobs, arts, sports, and other professional fields.

As the number of students increased, existing spaces became insufficient. The organization decided to build an independent multi-purpose building. Since obtaining government land proved difficult, members decided to purchase land through public contributions.

Understanding that education is the need of the time, the organization adopted the motto “Progress through Education.” To fulfill this vision, the concept of the “Samata Convention Center” was introduced. After continuous efforts, a 4,476.31 sq. ft. plot was acquired in Virar (East), near D-Mart, and legally registered in the organization’s name. Permission has been granted by the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation to construct a ground-plus-four-floor building, and efforts are ongoing to obtain approval for the fifth floor.

The proposed Samata Convention Center will include a modern study hall, traditional and digital library, computer center, art gallery, seminar and conference hall, competitive exam facilities, guest house, meditation center, cafeteria, health center, community service unit, legal aid center, student support center, skill development center, counseling center, and social research center.

The estimated cost of the project is approximately ₹3 crore. Efforts are ongoing to raise funds through government, semi-government, and private CSR initiatives. CSR certification has recently been obtained with professional assistance. The project is expected to benefit future generations, and generous individuals and organizations are invited to contribute.

The organization’s accounts have been audited up to 2024–25. Under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961, donors are eligible for tax exemption (renewal process ongoing). Donors contributing ₹25,000 or more will have their names displayed on an honor board. Those donating ₹10 lakh or more will have sections of the building named permanently after them, and donors contributing ₹50 lakh will have an entire floor named in their honor.

On the occasion of completing 30 years of dedicated service, the organization is proud to publish this commemorative document and humbly invites everyone to participate in this meaningful social mission.
